Community Support of Kinder Hospital Foundation Gala Ensures Success

Created to assist Allen Parish Hospital financially in its effort to continue expanding its service line to meet the needs of the community, the Kinder Hospital Foundation is making great strides in raising funds for the facility’s attempt in purchasing mammography equipment. The first fundraising event, the Kinder Hospital Foundation Joie de Vivre Gala, was held on Saturday, October 6. With over 200 people in attendance and a net income of over $13,000, the event was a huge success. The gala, held at Koasati Pines Veranda, was sponsored in large part by the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana. The tribe generously donated the food, facilities, and the friendly wait staff. Special thanks also to Beauregard’s Courtesy for providing the evening’s music and the many other generous sponsors of the event. “The success of this year’s gala displays the community’s strong support of Allen Parish Hospital. We are pleased with its success and have begun planning similar events well into the future,” stated Nancy Burleigh of the Kinder Hospital Foundation.

With this year’s proceeds assisting the hospital in the acquisition of a digital mammography machine, the gala was dedicated to the memory of an individual that lost her battle with breast cancer, Kathleen Storer Bertrand. A memorial fund has been set up in her honor with all proceeds benefiting the Kinder Hospital Foundation. Those contributing to the fund include: Dr. J. J. Storer, Ilene and Jeffery Nicklas, Sr., Claire Rae Storer, Jackie and Bill Storer, Oneida Kay Marcantel Loup, Joseph F. Fournet, Carolyn Karam Khoury, Larry Adair, Bernard Marcantel, and Randy Myers.
